Frequently Asked Questions

No credit card needed  |  No deposit  |  Full insurance subject to the rental terms. If you need help with a specific request, please contact Ben Rental.

Who can rent a vehicle?

Any driver who holds a valid driving licence can rent a vehicle. At pickup, the renter must present the original identity card or passport and a valid driving licence. Only the drivers named in the rental agreement may drive the vehicle.

Drivers aged 18–21: A small daily young-driver fee applies. Full Insurance is not valid for this age group.

Which driving licences are valid in Greece?

We accept driving licences issued in European Union countries, the USA, Canada and Australia. Driving licences from other countries must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued according to the Vienna Convention (1968).

For a non-EU licence to be valid in Greece, it must be written in Latin characters, be accompanied by an official translation, or be accompanied by a valid IDP. If your licence was issued outside the EU, we recommend carrying your IDP together with the original licence. If you are unsure, send us a photo of your driving licence and we will confirm whether it is valid for your rental.

Do I need a credit card or security deposit?

No credit card is required for your booking and we do not require a security deposit. This means you can rent a car in Malia, Heraklion Airport or another available location in Crete without money being blocked on your card. Payment can be made in cash, by bank transfer or by an accepted credit card, prior to or upon delivery of the vehicle.

How is the rental day calculated?

The booking system calculates the final price from your selected pickup and return dates and times. The return must take place at the agreed time and location. For daily rentals, a return selected after 09:00 may add an extra rental day; the total is shown before you confirm the booking.

Can I rent a car for one day?

Yes. One-day rentals are available subject to vehicle availability. Choose your pickup and return details in the booking form to see the final price.

Where can I collect or return the vehicle?

Pickup and return are available at our Stalida and Sisi offices, Heraklion Airport and Port, and selected hotels or delivery areas. Available locations and any applicable delivery fee are shown when you select your booking details.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

For airport bookings, please provide your flight information when requested. We monitor arrivals and will assist you if your flight is delayed. If possible, send us a message as soon as you know about a major change.

What is included in the rental price?

Rental prices include 24% VAT and unlimited mileage. The service also includes 24-hour roadside assistance throughout Crete, theft protection and the insurance cover described in the rental terms. Baby seats are available on request. Additional driver(s) have an extra charge.

What insurance is included?

Every rental includes Third Party Liability (TPL), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP). You can upgrade to Full Insurance with zero excess for extra peace of mind during your car hire in Crete. Full Insurance is not valid for drivers aged 18–21. Please read the Rental Terms for policy conditions and exclusions.

What is not covered by the insurance?

Important exclusions include damage to the underside caused by driving off paved roads, damage to the interior, loss or damage to personal belongings, damage during vehicle transport, accidents involving an undeclared driver, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and incidents not reported to us promptly with the required report. Full exclusions are stated in the Rental Terms.

What is your fuel policy?

The vehicle is supplied with a specific fuel level and must be returned with the same level. No refund is provided if more fuel is left in the vehicle at return.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation and refund of any amount already paid are available when you notify us at least 72 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Please contact us as early as possible if your plans change.

What should I do in case of an accident or breakdown?

Contact Ben Rental immediately. In the event of an accident, notify the police, collect the details of all involved parties and witnesses, take relevant photographs where safe, and complete the required accident report. An insured event must be notified in writing no later than 12 hours after it occurs.
